Did I say Eastern or Western Europe?

Alright, I know that I just talked about my friend’s date from Spain. Yes, he is cute and everything but if you already know me, they consider me an ‘equal opportunity’ dater. Ha-ha! I have nothing against American boyfriends - I’ve had several and yeah I had a great time as well but this time, I’m shifting to Europe. I am not quite certain what it is about Europeans that got me but it just fits right at this moment in my life.

There are plenty of places I still want to visit in and around Europe. One would think that it is now very cool to
travel to Russia . Eastern Europe is one more place I would like to explore during my travels. I have already been to most part of Europe including Germany, Italy, England, and France but would like to meet more people all over the globe.

Does anyone out there know of any good sites to visit should I decide to
travel to Russia ? Just imagine this: New Year’s on the Red Square, Fly Mig, Vodka and Ice, Young Russia and etc - who could go wrong?! ;) This will be marked as one of my destinations to visit before I die. Russia - I will see you soon!

My next boyfriend will be European

I met with friends the other night to celebrate my best friend’s birthday. The dinner was absolutely fantastic. My best friend is half Vietnamese and half Caucasian American. He did grow up in Vietnam until he was 15 years of age I believe. When he said that we are going for Vietnamese cuisine, I was a bit skeptical but when we were served, OH MY GOD! The food was delicious and the portions were really big. I had a great time.

Another event of the night is meeting this guy from Spain. He is currently dating a friend of mine and guess what, he is super cute! Well, handsome would be the word I guess. I enjoy listening to his accent and listening to his stories about Spain. Now I want to go to Spain for a vacation. I heard that there are exquisite architecture and fantastic places to see there. Perfect wedding location in Spain are the mansions that they have there that have stood the test of time. The mansions are perfect for weddings as it has stunning gardens and a private chapel. One particular mansion has 12 stunning bedrooms all with private bathroom as it used to be a hotel.

I would love to go on a holiday in Spain. It would do me a lot of good - most specially now that I am single, it would be nice to meet a Spaniard. Hmmmm… In general, I do want to meet a European for a boyfriend next time. I guess it would be cool to mix cultures. East meets West as they say but I do love Europeans because they are mostly straight forward and it is either yes or no - no fooling around the bush.

So, I will wait a few months and save up. Barcelona is calling me. ;)

Wait - before my last lecture, I want to meet the ONE!

Published by gaychristians under Online Dating

No, I don’t mean THE ONE. That would be AFTER my last lecture. I meant the ONE who will be with me for the rest of my life here on earth. As you all must know, dating is hard when you just came off a relationship. It’s hard to get back into the dating game. I am shy to begin with so even with social interactions, I tend to clam up and not say a word even though I am interested in someone.

Sure, most of us have tried Online Dating Sites and some are successful and some are not. But hey, it is less intimidating and much more - you get to pick out the candidates before you spend a half day with someone you hardly know and not even like for that matter.

I do have some concerns about using Online Dating Sites because it can be random and rigid. There are sites out there that provide real-life tips that could enable you to understand the process and how to use these sites safely and with your feet on the ground. No one really has to compromise their safety or humiliation when using any of these sites.

If you are interested in using these types of sites to get back into the game, learn the game first. Find out tips and tricks. Learn on how to avoid unsafe situations. These are basic things that an individual must know before jumping into anything specially if you have to expose your personal information over the web. Visit http://www.onlinedatingtips.org to know more about safety, looking for red flags and enjoy your date instead of despising it. You will be surprised on how much you don’t know.

What would you impart to the world before you go?

Published by gaychristians under Last Lecture

I was intrigued by an entry made by Reyna Elena on her site about  Randy Pausch, a Carnegie-Mellon University Computer-Science professor who received a standing ovation even before he gave his lecture.  Most of them went there to see his ‘last lecture’.   He is terminally ill and it wasn’t known whether he will live for weeks or months.  After I watched the video, I was compelled to think about what I would impart to the world before I go.   What would my last lecture be if I was given the chance.  So I wrote:

My last lecture? I will conduct a lecture about God’s Love. I will make it my exit mission to make people understand the ‘unconditional love’ that God has for us. The title will be: Agape, The Real Meaning of God’s Love.

My focus will be the moment that I realize His love for me knew no bounds. I may be a sinner or a saint but I am loved by Him in the same exact way.

This is my story. During the time that I was so confused about my sexuality and my faith, I got to know an Irish monk who became God’s instrument in helping me reconcile my faith and my sexuality. We would take long walks along the monastery grounds in the middle of winter and discuss why I had a hard time accepting that God loves me because of my sexuality and what other people made me believe - that being gay is a sin.

One winter snowy night, he gave me a one-on-one retreat. He had me sit in the middle of the chapel and played some background music for ambiance I guess. Then, he had me close my eyes and told me to imagine three chairs. I being seated in the middle.

While I pictured this in my head, he had me think of all the good things that I have done in my 24 years of being alive. I saw myself glistening in bright light knowing that the good actions that I had done were pleasing to Him. I saw myself as bright as the sun. The monk then instructed me to look at the chair on the right and imagine God sitting right there. He wanted me to tell him what God’s reaction was to MY GOOD SELF. I saw God’s face with this radiant smile and His hands outstretched in welcome to embrace me. It was an ecstatic sight.

By this time, I was already in tears. Similarly, the monk then asked me to think about the bad things that I have done in my 24 years. I saw my being gay as one of the bad things and I pictured myself as dirty, dark, gloomy and sinful. I was ashamed, I couldn’t even stare at my own image because of that. Then, the monk said, “Now look at the chair on the left and imagine God sitting there. Tell me what you see.”

I looked to my left and to my surprise, I saw the same exact face of God with his radiant smile and his outstretched hands ready to welcome me. I cried even more knowing that God did not care. He didn’t care whether I was a sinner or I was a saint, straight or gay, man or woman. He loved me regardless of all of that. At that exact moment, I accepted my sexuality and was able to reconcile it with my faith knowing full well that God’s love knows no bounds. I would like to impart the moment I knew what God’s Love felt like and how, in our own choosing could we understand its fullness.

“Beloved, let us love one another. For love is of God, and everyone that loveth is born of God and knoweth God. He that loveth not, knoweth not God - for God is love.”

Have a wonderful day folks!

To date or not to date…

Okay - I have been out of the dating seen for four years. I really can’t get used to jumping right back into the scene and besides I’m still hanging on to what’s left of the relationship because of the non-closure issue. What do you do though? You need to meet people right? I am not about to jump to the next relationship and be a total ‘rebound’ disaster. I’m taking it slow and having fun in the meantime. It’s hard to let go of four years and nobody’s telling me to do so anyway.

You know what, here in the U.S., it’s hard to meet people. Why do you think dating sites are so popular here. You just can’t meet people because life is so busy and you do everything. You do the laundry, you clean your own house, you do the dishes, wash your car, shop for your groceries, cook - - whatever. These things tend to take so much time that coming home from work and cooking dinner takes you to 9:00 p.m. - - - by the time you eat and wash dishes, it’s time to go to bed?!

So, I discovered a free online dating site called Be2.net - Free Online Dating Community Site. You can log on for free, create a profile and chat even? It’s not like the other dating sites that charge you ala carte for each service. Charge you to view pictures, charge you to chat? What is that all about?

So, I decided to sign up and it is amazing. I get to meet people, screen them before I even meet them face-to-face. And it is not local - - this is global. I can meet people from Bulgarie, to China, to Germany and everywhere else! I am planning a trip to Brazil…so when I get there, I can hang out with people I already know online. If you’re down in the dumps, and think that there is no one for you - think again. Even friendships can be made through Be2.net - Free Online Dating Community Site. I’ll let you know in a few months how I fare out with this new site. Right now, I think it’s a good place to meet people and I will keep my FREE membership just in case.

I Love my Shih Tzu - Lion Dog

Published by gaychristians under Shih Tzus and Me

I had a dog before. I had a Maltese named Tron. He was a toy dog of Maltese breed and he was my very first dog. However, he died in a tragic accident while I was away in Florida. I didn’t want to get attached to another dog again ever after that. It was just too painful to lose something that you love.

I traveled around the U.S. for work and even then, I didn’t want to get another pet. I felt bad leaving the dog in kennels during my trips so I decided not to get one. Until I became partnered and moved into this neighborhood where a couple owned three Shih Tzus that they walk every single day. They seem to be the most loving and not ferocious at all. We became friends with the owners and when I mentioned that if I get another dog, it will be a Shih Tzu, they decided to take me to their breeder. I fell in love instantly when I saw this tan and white Shih Tzu. I actually placed a deposit right then and there - eight weeks later, Simba came home with us.

My ex-boyfriend and I now both have Shih Tzus. They are pampered dogs and they even belog to Dogster. Now I found this new website where you can actually put your own content and pictures of your dog. It is called
GreatDogSite.com. The site owner, Paul - manages to keep up with the many many breeds when he maintains his site. I am not even sure how he does it. But I guess, user content does help. You can ask questions about your dog breed, upload pictures, answer inquiries from other dog owners and so forth.

Simba and Kovu are best friends but they don’t see each other anymore. Since my breakup with my boyfriend, Simba has been alone in the house. I try to bring him over to friends’ homes with dogs as well but I know he misses Kovu. Maybe they’ll meet each other again at
GreatDogSite.com? Who knows?

Soccer - Football - Call it what you want.

Published by gaychristians under Contact Sports

I had no idea how I became interested in soccer - football as they call it in Europe. Maybe because of David Beckam or maybe because of the testosterone-filled soccer field. I remember being in Italy during the World Cup and it was amazing. It is like welcoming the Millenium over there! It is so big in Asia and Europe that I now watch soccer every chance I get.

I wish I had a backyard where I could set up
Soccer Goals and invite friends over to play. It is not only a good way to burn calories, it is also fun because it is a contact sport. I have lots of straight friends that either coach soccer of play soccer for fun. Actually, my buddies from work have invited me to watch their games every Tuesday night right by my neighborhood. Yes, these are my cute co-workers who doesn’t care that I’m gay. They have been great buddies of mine even after I came out to them.

If and when I get the motivation to workout again, I would like to play soccer. I just need to lose weight first, get my stamina up and go! One thing I enjoy about the game is the camaraderie that is displayed during the game. It is the kind of male-bonding that I missed out on while growing up since I didn’t play much sports as a child.

Now, I have found my sport and I am going to make it a goal to be able to play the game when the right time comes.

When in Rome…

Published by gaychristians under When in Rome...

Are you looking to take a vacation soon? Have you ever been to Europe?  October or November is the best time to go.  Number one, the fares are cheaper and number two, the hotel  rates are much more reasonable.

The last trip I took with my ex-boyfriend outside of the country was a one week trip to Italy.  We spent a couple of days in Florence, and then spent the rest of the trip in Rome. Rome hotels are by far the coolest. I really enjoyed our stay there as we stayed exactly in the vicinity where the Colloseum is located. We actually walked to the Colloseum. Other interesting places where right there as well - - we walked in the ruins, visited the Vatican and talk about awesome!

My ex-boyfriend has the knack for reading maps so he was in charge of the itinerary and I am in charge of picking the restaurant for dinner. What we did was to always order the house wine from one of the many local restaurants. It was a blast. If you want to travel to Italy, specifically in Rome, I would urge you to find search for Rome hotels in and around the Colloseum area. Not only do you save money (Euro is very expensive - I think we lost 30% of our dollars there) but will get to see the places of interest much more easily.

I want to go to Venice next but since I am single right now - I don’t know when that will be. Let’s just say, if we ever get back together (which I doubt), we’ll be flying to Venice in November.

Can you feel it? The air is crisp, the sun sets earlier

Published by gaychristians under The air is crisp

It’s almost official.. fall is going to be here in a few days. The foggy and cold fall evenings are the best. And of course, Halloween is around the corner again. I am still going to school and it sucks too because Halloween falls on a Wednesday this year. I love Halloween and it’s a bummer that I have to request for the day off on November 1st just so I could party. ;)

If you are shopping for a halloween costume, what would you be looking for? I want to be something crazy this year. Last year, the most awesome of costumes appeared at the Halloween Ball in Philadelphia. It’s always fun to go there. Amazing outfits! Some so stunning and some not-so-stunning but it’s all for fun anyway. I enjoy the women who get body paints (yes they’re nude) as leopards, tigers or cats. Some guys don’t wear anything at all too! One guy was wearing a sign, “Gone Fishing” and nothing else.

It would be a little lonely this year as you know, my ex-boyfriend and I broke up a couple of months ago. We’ve spent four Halloween Balls together. It was fun while it lasted. I do want to go this year - but - what to wear, what to wear. I guess I better look at
halloween costumes early this year. I don’t want to be left wearing what every other procrastinator is wearing.

Arrrgghhh! I need a vacation!!

Published by gaychristians under I need a Vacation

It is time for a much needed vacation. I have not had a vacation since I went to Italy last year. This year is more like a budget vacation. I can only spend a budgeted amount of money and not go overboard like I did last year.

I really wanted to go to Mykonos this year. I didn’t plan on it because every time I try to look for airfares, I get stumped. I cannot believe how much airfare costs this year. It gets harder and harder to find cheaper fares. Whatever happened to airlines not making enough money and are going bankrupt. Sheesh, with the amount of fares they charge now, they could come out of bankruptcy and go to triple digit profit!

Thats when I found Cheapoair Top 25 Deals. I checked it out and found that I can book myself to go to the West Coast for under 250.00 USD… all the way from New Jersey! Whew! I thought I will have to go this year without a vacation.

I am packing my bags and ready to fly on Saturday. Thank God! I am meeting my friend from five years ago. He is Venezuelan. I can’t believe I fell in love with this guy before. Now we’re the best of friends.. Sisters if you may.

I am ready - - I am going! I will be away from blogging for about a week while I spend some time basking in the sun in Sunny California!!

See you soon!
