If you must see a film this holiday season…

Published by gaychristians under Holiday Film

I don’t know about you but I have loved Johnny Depp since I saw him on Benny and Joon. This is the film that provided me a good look at Johnny Depp’s ability as an actor and have followed his movies from then on. He has a unique way of acting where he gets into the character so deep that you won’t notice it is Johnny Depp playing a part but rather, the character that he is playing comes alive and do not recognize Johnny Depp as the teen idol, hunky boy from 21 Jump Street.

Another film that I liked is Secret Window. It was more Johnny Depp than the plot that intrigued me with this film because he was successful in confusing you on what really happened. A lot of self-conversation occurs here and no one I could see could definitely pull this off but him. He was perfect for the part and I loved it. Unlike the part in Benny and Joon, you can certainly tell that his acting is more mature and more refined. It’s not one of those boyish boy meets girl type of film.

He was always great in the Pirates of the Carribean series but to me, those movies don’t count. They are big blockbusters that is sure to keep Johnny Depp rich for the rest of his life but his true films really come out in indies and small productions like Chocolat.

Another film that he just finished is Sweeney Todd. Because of his other successes, he can take on films that would show the type of actor that he really is. The film is due to come out on December 21st. To view the trailer, you can visit the official Sweeney Todd movie site. It has the gallery (costumes and make up are fantastically done), interactive scenes and trailer. If you are to see a film this holiday season, I bet you won’t be disappointed with this one. Tim Burton is very well-known for releasing wonderful films during the holiday season and for sure, this one is one not to miss. If you didn’t get enough, you can even visit Sweeney Todd on MySpace.

Touching Gay Coming Out Stories

I wish I had a chance to come out to my parents. It was something very difficult that I couldn’t accept until later in my life. It took me a while to accept who I am and I wish I had accepted being gay earlier when I could have had the chance to tell my mom and dad. They passed before I even had the courage.

So watching the video brought back memories and the wishful-thinking. But hey, I’m sure they’re both looking down on me with pride. I love you mom and dad!

Sexual direction is not an election… controversial campaign.

homosexual.jpg

This ad caught my eye as I was reading another blog.  The campaign is creative.  I think it brings the message and the controversy surrounding it has gotten much attention.

Just like the poster, I myself agree that I was born a homosexual.  I would have never thought otherwise.  If it was a choice, I would be straight.  Growing up gay and different from other people was not the path I would have chosen for myself.  If it was a choice, I would rather be the same as everyone else.

As I age however, I am glad I am different.  I see the world in a different light.  I believe I am more compassionate because I am gay.  I believe I feel more emotions because I am gay.   I can understand the sinner better because I am gay.  I do not condemn easily because I know of what I’ve been through.  Therefore, my being gay helped me become who I am today and I am happy with what I see.
