How bad is the “Swine Flu” really?

Published by gaychristians under Random Thoughts

I went to the store yesterday simply to follow the easy steps I read in the paper about swine flu and how to prevent it from spreading. I simply wanted to buy a hand sanitizer but would you believe it? They were out of hand sanitizers! The lady said she’s been selling hand sanitizers like hotcakes due to the news. I ended up buying sanitizing wipes instead.  It was almost impossible to get the hand sanitizer gel anywhere.  I couldn’t believe it!  I didn’t think of the warnings coming out of the media was enough to cause “hand-sanitizer” panic.  Whew!  But I don’t blame the people.

How bad is it really? I heard that it is simply being hyped-up, or that it’s not really going to spread as the media puts it out there. However, if you have children – would you risk it? Or, if you have elderly in your home – would you take the chance? Of course not. I should really be looking for swine flu kits where I could protect not only myself but my whole family as well. We don’t know how far this is going to go, most specially if WHO recently raised the warning to level 5 – which is only one step closer to treat the H1N1 virus as a true and global pandemic.

I’m back from my R&R Trip!

Published by gaychristians under Random Thoughts

I had a great time in Chicago.  I was able to visit friends and meet new ones as well.  Have you ever been to Chicago?   If not, I encourage you to go.  It’s a great city and if I ever have any chance of moving there – I would.  The city is bustling and lots of things to do.

The magnificent mile (Michigan Avenue) were all the shops are was fabulous.  Although I didn’t get to walk through because of the rain.  The weather there was so unpredictable, we were in the 70s in the morning then in the afternoon, the temperature dropped down to the 30s.

We took the architectural tour as well and that was simply awesome.  If you ever visit Chicago, don’t forget to take this tour.  You will be enlightened.  ;)

Do you want to learn how to study the bible?

Published by gaychristians under Random Thoughts

When I was about 18, I was exposed to the Bible more than ever. I was invited to a Catholic Charismatic Seminar and although I was a bit skeptical about the whole thing, I went anyway. But then, after witnessing what the movement has done to my cousin (who formerly addicted to drugs and was freed from it), I thought – there has to be something there.so I became more curious. I kept on attending and when the time came for new members to be allowed to take the Life in the Spirit Seminar, I joined.

It was the best experience in my life. I got to study the Bible more that I ever had during 10 years of Catholic Education. It was a contest that the parish priest had created for fun and we studied the book of Luke from the New Testament. Do you know that you can too? With the barrage of information available to us, you can probably go through the Bible in less time. Learn to Study the Bible (40 Bible Study Methods) by going online. I say that it is way better than what I had to do when I read the book of Luke. If you want to learn how to study the bible, just go online.

On my way to Chicago – - this is going to be fun.

Published by gaychristians under Random Thoughts

Chicago is one of the nicest city in the US of A that I don’t mind visiting over and over again. It is a great city and one of the cleanest one too!

I am heading over there with friends this weekend – and I already know it’s going to be a blast. I’m on a stand by ticket, but I am hoping to get on this afternoon. The weather is going to be great and I cannot wait.

If you are in and around Chicago, I may see you there. I’m staying in the Boy’s Town area. Just ping me – - I’ll meet up with you guys!

Cheers!

I’m so ready to go on vacation…

Published by gaychristians under Random Thoughts

I will be away for two weeks for a vacation. I am so looking forward to it but it seems so far away still. I will be leaving for the islands in the middle of May and won’t be back until June. This year has been very stressful at work and as you all know, I also attend classes in the evenings. I only took one class this semester and yet, I feel like I can’t go on anymore. I’m simply burning out. Work, Home, School, Blogging – - too much.

To get a break before my vacation next month, I decided to visit a friend of mine in Chicago. He is actually the one I’m going to the islands with but he knows how stressed I am already that he invited me to go to Chicago for the weekend. By this coming Friday, I will be on my way to Chicago to get some much needed rest and relaxation. And since my birthday is coming up next month, he offered to treat me at a spa where they offer massages for men. I can’t wait!!! School is my main stressor. If I could get this massage, I would be forever thankful. Honestly, I have never gotten a real massage from a male spa. I’ll let you know how it went when I get back on Monday.

I hope everyone is enjoying Spring (less the allergy effects). School is almost over.. another four weeks and I’m done – - then, I’m off to the islands. Anyone want to come? :D

What do you think about podcasts?

Published by gaychristians under Random Thoughts

I have been wanting to open a podcast instead of this blog.  I think it’s more personal don’t you think?  I have friends who are now podcasting and I’m just waiting for the right moment.

Give me some ideas folks.  It would be neat if I could interact with you in a more personal relationship than simply reading my blog.

What do you guys think?

An aggregator – - at last!

Published by gaychristians under Random Thoughts

This is not the only blog I run.  I run another blog which is a celebrity website.  Do you know how hard it is to be a celebrity blogger?  Your contents must be fresh, DAILY and if you miss one day, your traffic could suffer significantly.

I surf the internet all the time to find content and it was getting too much.  I wanted to be able to show my content to people who are interested in celebrity news.  More like the way blog portals work.  They log in and they find all the content they want about celebrities in one site.

I submitted my blog to an aggregator.  Normally an aggregator automatically collects information about the topic of your site. Whether your blog is a celebrity blog, a health and beauty blog or whatever – it collects the information for you and presents them in your blog.  The one I joined is more like a community aggregator.  It will group together all the related blogs and present them in a way where the readers don’t have to visit all the blogs and sites where the topic originated from. Instead, they go to one site and read all the topics they are interested in from one site.  Check out mine here.

A day in the life of a Gay Christian..

Published by gaychristians under Random Thoughts

You would think after all these years, I wouldn’t be affected by the jokes I hear about being gay.  I have straight friends who know I’m gay and they are pretty respectful when it comes to that.  But when we hang out with THEIR friends, they cannot control what their friends joke about.  Even a simple, “That’s so gay!” remark gets me.  I don’t know.  Maybe I’m being too sensitive lately but I am having a hard time with hit.

One of my friends who is a cop, went to the extent of warning his straight friends about saying anything or making a joke about gays when he and his wife invited me to their party.  Everyone respected it.  I actually felt uncomfortable that no one was joking or saying anything about it… so I had to start.  And when I started, they felt more at ease and really – I had a great time.

So what’s the difference?  I don’t know.  These are two separate occasions that are similar but I was offended in one and not the other.  Am I losing my mind?

Time to change my furniture at home…

Published by gaychristians under Random Thoughts

When I purchased my home back in 2000, I was in a hurry to furnish it. I really didn’t think much of style or theme at that time. I just purchased what I thought went well together. As a matter of fact, I had my friend choose the furniture that I have now – from the living room, dining room and all the way to the bedroom.

I’m really not much into rustic furniture but I did find one that could probably fit the style in my spare bedroom. It’s a dresser made from Red Oak and I thought, this could work. Besides the guest bedroom is made to make the guest comfortable. This particular piece looks really homey. What’s great with this is the cedar bottom drawers. I can keep my wool sweaters in it without the fear bugs feeding on them. What do you think?

I’m into podcasting now. What a hoot!

Published by gaychristians under Random Thoughts

Hello peeps.  I’m trying to learn how to do a podcast.  It’s another avenue I’d like to explore.  I think it’s better to interact with your audience with that media.  I’m not brave enough to tackle Youtube yet… my voice is probably enough for now.

Does anyone know how to easily setup a podcast? What microphone should I use?  Do I need any software?

If you have any ideas, please let me know.  I’d really like to get started soon.  :D
