It’s okay to be frugal.
I always thought of myself as a frugal person. I think there is a big difference in being frugal and being cheap. I am definitely frugal.
Here’s where I find the difference. If I find a pair of good quality shoes and it will cost me twice as much as an almost identical pair of shoes but of low quality, I still won’t mind paying the higher price knowing that I am not compromising quality for the price. I use that concept for everything that I buy.
My co-workers and I are attending one of our colleague’s wedding in March. We were thinking about what to give her and her husband for their wedding. One of our other colleagues overheard her on the phone once stating that she is registered at Kohl’s. We immediately took a peek at the Kohl’s website and found out that if you use a Kohl’s credit card ,you can save 30% off your full purchase. And at the same time, you can avail of Kohl’s cashback program if you purchase a certain amount. WE ended up buying over $500 worth of registered items for $200. We were so excited.
I like buying electronics as well. I can’t help it, I’m a gadget person. And if there is something out there using the latest and greatest technology, I’m on it. What I don’t like about buying the latest electronics is that whatever is cool today, will be passe by tomorrow – literally. So, I try to purchase electronics that are slightly used and in excellent condition. I don’t mind buying refurbished items because I can save money right off the bat.
Have you ever used coupons? Coupons for online stores are the best. Besides getting the usual free shipping, online coupons can really save you a lot of money when purchasing something online.
So, when I saw that there are new promotions from newegg at Frugal Dad’s website, I immediately checked it out. Who knows what I will find there? I recently purchased an iPad 2 and if I need accessories, what better way to get it other than at a discount. I don’t usually like paying full price if I can get the same exact product and quality at half the price. If I have to purchase something major online, I usually check out available coupons first (you can Google the store you want and find discount coupons available online) and then check the store’s website for special deals. I get a major kick out of saving money and it is usually fun for me.
How about you?
