I rarely post any personal entries anymore. I started this blog as a personal blog but it has evolved to what it is today, a celebrity blog. From time to time, when I feel a nudge about a topic or anything that touches my heart, I blog about it under “Random Musings”. I express how I feel and I write about the situation.

This video that you will see below is Joel Burns. He is Fort Worth City, Texas Councilman who is openly gay. His 12-minute speech was heartfelt (and I cried a couple of times while watching). It is a message to teens who are thinking of taking their lives just because of bullying and name-calling. People who’ve been called faggit, faggot, queer, freak and the like while you are in grade school or high school understand how painful it is. And to a young teen, you may think that the world is a cruel place. It is not. We want you to know that life does get better and Joel Burns said it profoundly by telling his own experience.

Watch the videos and comment. I want to know what you think.

I wish I had a chance to come out to my parents. It was something very difficult that I couldn’t accept until later in my life. It took me a while to accept who I am and I wish I had accepted being gay earlier when I could have had the chance to tell my mom and dad. They passed before I even had the courage.

So watching the video brought back memories and the wishful-thinking. But hey, I’m sure they’re both looking down on me with pride. I love you mom and dad!
